Global Warming Crisis Or Not - 1849 Words

Global Warming: Crisis or not? Intro to global warming topic – facts/introduce both sides (humans are cause, humans are not cause) Earth’s history is filled with drastic climate changes, from ice ages to warm fertile periods. But only in recent years has the thought of humans having an impact on Earth’s climate been an issue. The definition of climate change is â€Å"the long term change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns over decades to millions of years,† but some recent definitions of climate change have been formed with the idea of human impact embedded in them. One such definition states â€Å"climate change as mainly the change in modern climate augmented by human activities.† Ideas of this arose in 1896 when Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius carried out the first calculations of global warming. Arrhenius lived during the time of the industrial revolution, which introduced the use of coal, railroads and factories. He had ideas that the CO2 produced from burning fossil fuels might contribute to the increase in temperature of the Earth. Global warming is a global topic and the source of much controversy in the world today. Although some people may be skeptical of it, global warming is real, and there is evidence to prove it. On a basic level, we have noticed that the average global temperature has been rising over the past one hundred and thirty years, with the majority of this warming occurring since the 70’s and the warmest years within the past ten years.Show MoreRelatedCrisis On The Horizon : Global Warming1736 Words   |  7 PagesCrisis on the Horizon The subject of global warming and how the human race has contributed to the increase in its effects has been widely debated over the past few decades. Management Theory and Practice Furniture

Question: Discuss about theManagement Theory and Practice for Furniture. Answer: Introduction: With the increasing competition, every organization has looked to develop clear aims and objectives for conducting the business effectively. Development of clear aims and objectives has allowed the organizations to move forwards in a suitable path (Ashraf 2012). It allows organizations to develop unique strategies for capturing major share of the market. In this essay, I will try to evaluate the organizational effectiveness of Harvey Norman. Recently, I have completed three months internship from this organization, which has allowed me to understand the insight of the operational process. I will try to assess perspectives of different stakeholders group for identifying the kind of effects organizational process. Discussion: Harvey Norman is a large Australian based multinational organizational retail organization that provides bedding, furniture, communication and consumer electronic products and computers. I have assessed that the organization looks to operate as a franchise stores for capturing major share of the market. Presently, it has 280 franchise stores in different parts of the world including Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and Europe (harveynorman.com.au 2017). During my internship tenure, I felt that the vision of Harvey Norman is to emerge as the biggest retailing brand across the globe. For that reason, it has tried to maintained high quality of all the products so that it can keep the satisfaction level of the customers effectively. I have assessed that Harvey Norman is looking to develop healthy work environment so that employees can give their best at the workplace. I think all the initiated strategies of Harvey Norman have focused on enhancing the effectiveness of the operation al procedure. I have always believed that monitoring of business performance over a sustain period of time can provide an idea regarding the kind of impact initiated strategies had on the business performance. I believe that improving financial condition is the ultimate tool that allows business to remain competitive in the market effectively. Now, the revenue level of Harvey Norman was accounted around $5.3 billion in 2016 (harveynorman.com.au 2017). It highlights the fact that the organization has able to create strong customer base in Australia and other countries. From my internship period, I have learned that providing high quality products is not the only way to satisfy customers. In fact, organizations need to focus on different value added services for gaining competitive advantage in the market (Lecy, Schmitz and Swedlund 2012). I have assessed that marketing and customer service team of Harvey Norman has always focused on providing effective after sales services for ensuri ng all the requirements of the organization can be fulfilled in an effective manner. Secondly, I feel that global expansion is another key indicator of organizational effectiveness. As per the article by Cameron and Whetten (2013) all the organizations have to focus on expanding the business in the global market for achieving consistent growth in the market. Now, I have assessed that business process of Harvey Norman has also focused on establishing its reach in the global platform. Still, I have identified that the prime share of revenue of Harvey Norman comes from the Australian market only. I believe as one of the biggest retail brand in the Australian market, Harvey Norman has very little presence outside of the country. It emphasizes the fact that there is lots of opportunity available for the organization to improve the effectiveness of the operational procedure even further. As illustrated by Manzoor (2012) organizational effectiveness reflects the increasing capacity of the organizations to increase the satisfaction level of the employee, minimizing turnover issue and maximizing productivity with the use of excellent customer service. I believe all these activities can increase the longevity of an organization in this competitive business environment. For that reason, I feel that employees and customers are the two prime stakeholders group that can determine the actual effectiveness of the organization. I believe maintaining the satisfaction level of the employees allows organizations to develop healthy and collaborative work environment. It also allows management to maximize the utility of all the resources in an effective manner (Choo 2013). For that reason, I feel that it will create a direct impact on the overall effectiveness of the operational process. Now, I have assessed that Harvey Norman tried to provide best possible financial support and gui dance to the employees so that they remain associated with the organization for long period of time. I have identified the organization and leadership structure of Harvey Norman has allowed employees to share their opinion about different important organizational decision-making process. Therefore, it has induced employees to perceive themselves as important part the organization. I strongly believe it has created positive impact on the overall effectiveness of the organization. On the other hand, Cameron (2015) has mentioned that providing superior quality of customer service can increase the satisfaction level of the customers in a major way. I know satisfied customers are more likely to revisit the outlets for future purchase. Thus, it will actually help to retain customers for long period of time. Now, I have identified that effective use of after sales and customer services have helped Harvey Norman to achieve consistent growth in the market. Therefore, it is also likely to cre ate positive impact on the financial aspect of the organization, which is a key indicator of effective organizational procedure (Zoogah, Peng and Woldu 2015). Conclusion: From the above analysis, it can be mentioned that organizational effectiveness heavily depends on the way customers and employees contributes to the business performance. For that reason, I feel that organizations will have to focus on providing required level of benefits and support services to the employees so that they remain associated with the organization for long period of time. On the other hand, it also emphasizes the fact that customers can also contribute to the effectiveness of the organizations in a major way. Therefore, organizations will have to focus on developing innovative strategies in order to provide some value added services to all the prime stakeholders. Thus, I feel that coherent approach is essential for enhancing the effectiveness of the operational procedure. References: Ashraf, G., 2012.
